Hello!  My name is Samquetta Dyson.  I was born and raised in Prince Georges County MD. I have been in the education field for a little over 30 years.  I have experience in working with children ranging from infancy to high schoolers. Teaching has always been a goal of mine since I was a young child. Children need teachers who are sensitive towards them, rational, caring, and who have the patience to help them learn to the best of their abilities. I currently hold a BA in Early Childhood Education, MA in Business Organizational Management and a MA in Special Education. Continuing my education has been one of my biggest goals and accomplishments. Allowing my children to witness me doing homework on late nights will let them know that it’s never too late to return to school. I believe that all children deserve a head start and that’s just what I plan to provide.  I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and my goal is to pour into children and families as people has poured into me along my journey.

The teaching model that aligns with my philosophy of teaching is Reggio Emilia. I choose this model because it is important for children to be treated as an individual and respected for their individuality.  Social interactions are also very important when working with children. This approach allows open discussions between peers and teachers that will have a huge impact on the children building their self-esteem and that their input has meaning.  Children are encouraged and provided the opportunity to explore in different learning areas throughout the day that will be compiled with materials that revolve around the children’s best interest. The Reggio Emilia approach allows children to learn through everyday experiences. These experiences will be implemented in the curriculum and will provide children with opportunities to have hands on experiences. The curriculum and experiences will be developmentally appropriate for the children and will align with NAEYC standards, as well as state mandated standards.  With every child having different strengths and weaknesses, no two children will learn and develop exactly the same, this approach allow children the opportunity to learn at their own pace and learn through what interests them.

Make it stand out
